Surprise!

I'm pregnant!

I know it's early to mention (I'm between 5 and 6 weeks), but I can't keep my mouth shut. dontknow We're excited, but I'm still nervous. I could use your prayers. My last pregnancy was a nightmare, and it'd be great if this one was smooth. So far it's much better - no morning sickness or fatigue. We'll see!

This was very unplanned and very very shocking. We wanted to wait another year since we're planning on moving, and we live in a 2-bedroom house with very little space for another child. I don't think we'll have room for a crib, but we co-slept with our DD anyway. Things will work out. God usually knows what He's doing with me. Wink

So, this is fair warning that hormones will be raging. Smile I'll post updates when I have them. May as well...it's my board after all...lol. You'll have to bear with me. thumbleft

Just a quick update. Things are going very well here. I have had a bit of queasiness, but nothing compared to my last pregnancy. Lower back pain has been pretty hard on me though. Neutral I'm really filling out already. Pants are uncomfortable, etc. I want to make it to the 2nd trimester before buying any clothes though - I'll be pulling out the rubberbands soon. Wink I have to pee all the time.

I had my first OB appointment today, and he did a pelvic on me. He remarked that I'm measuring 8 weeks when I should be 5-1/2 weeks. So that really has me puzzled. Two cycles ago I started on December 20, which would put me at about 10 weeks (with a 35-day cycle). This was followed by a normal period that started on January 23, which would put me at 5-1/2 weeks (with a 35-day cycle). I'm stumped, and I'm usually good at figuring this stuff out. Any ideas? To be 8 weeks with a 35 day cycle, I'd have needed to start on January 3rd, and I didn't. Razz

I have an ultrasound next week Thursday to see how far along I am. He also mentioned the possibility of twins. (Gulp!) There is also the possibility of a molar pregnancy, but I am not having any of the signs of that, so I really don't think that's it. He didn't mention that, but I checked it out anyway. Wink

I know I won't really know until the ultrasound next week, but I have nothing else to obsess about...lol. Smile

Aw Rose, I am so happy for you. Congratulations!!!

Take care of yourself! Much Love....

Rose,

I said congrats at my house the other day, but I figured I better put it on the board. Be patient until the ultrasound. You should get all your answers there. I laugh a little Laughing b/c the ultrasound person has no idea how well educated you are in all of this. You probably know more about what she/he will be doing than they do.

I hope you continue to feel good and that no bed rest is needed. But if it is, you will make it through. Remember that when you look at the whole picture is really is a small part of your life.

Hey everyone Smile I had my ultrasound today, and I'm 7 weeks along with one baby. Yay! I was right in terms of my cycle (for the record), and I just must have a large uterus. Wink

We saw the heartbeat, and everything looked normal and fine. Yay!

Anonymous said...

Thanks for letting us know, Rose. I'm so glad everything looks good. Of course you were right about your cycle.....how could you possibly be wrong?! lol What in the world causes you to have a large uterus???

Anonymous said...

Rose,

Congrats and I am glad that it is only one.

I really hope you continue to feel well too, but if you don't, you know you will make it through just like you did the last time.

Isn't it amazing to see that heart beating when he/she is so very tiny.

Truly a miracle!!!!!!!!!!!

Rose said...

I feel like I've been MIA a lot! Sorry everyone. Embarassed

Things are still good here...I'm getting more and more nauseated though. That and I'm starving all the time. It's hard to be nauseated and hungry at the same time, but I manage it somehow...lol.

I'm 9 weeks now. I had another ultrasound on Thursday because they called to tell me earlier in the week that baby's heartbeat was slow. This, of course, freaked me out, since the first baby I was pregnant with died a week after we first saw the heartbeat. But, this time everything was just fine. The heartbeat was normal now. She said it could've been low because it was just starting to beat at my first u/s.

No other major news. I think it's a boy. We'll see if I'm right. Wink

Rose said...

Well, I had another OB appointment, and it turns out that the u/s lady gave me the wrong dates and I'm only 10 weeks along now. Ugh. It feels like I have to redo weeks. I thought I was almost 12 weeks now. Oh well...nothing major. I got to hear the baby's heartbeat...that was nice.

Nausea is getting better, although I still have very little energy. Just waiting for that 2nd trimester to come through. Very Happy

Awww, that sux that you have to backtrack 2 wks. BTW, I am NOT prego! YIPPEE! Thanks for listening to me vent though lol

I'm having a...

very cute baby! We had an ultrasound yesterday. I'm 20-1/2 weeks now - half way through! Yay! Now I just get to look forward to getting bigger and bigger.

We saw all 10 fingers and 10 toes. The baby sucked its thumb for us, waved at us, and sat cross-legged. (There won't be room for that for much longer.)

So, you probably want to know if it's a boy or a girl...

Drumroll...............

It's

a

boy!

We're excited to have a little boy, even though it seems like it'll be such a huge change. LOL. He'll be here in November, and I can't wait to meet him!

Anonymous said...

Congrats on a boy...how does one accomplish that anyway lol....Im so happy for you...Doesnt it just life your spirits to see the little one? It makes it all worth it!!!

Anonymous said...

You'll love having a boy, Rose. Definitely different than girls! They are very fun, though. And just like your DH has daddy's little girl - you will have mommy's little boy. And it's so fun!

YIPPEE A BOY! Congrats Rose! *doing happy dance*

Congratulations Rose! Boys are so much fun!

I thought I'd better give an update. Smile I'm 30 weeks pregnant now...woohoo! That means this is drawing to an end! I'm sure I'll only get grumpier over the next 10 weeks though, so consider yourselves warned. Wink

On an icky note, I've been diagnosed with gestational diabetes. doh2 What a bummer! I've been doing so well with diet...only putting on the minimum so far and sticking to an 1800 cal a day diet. It's really frustrating to me because it feels like I failed anyway. I have to go on a diabetic diet, which isn't a huge deal, and I have to poke my finger 4 times a day to test my sugar levels, which could be bad since I type for a living. We'll see. I learn more Tuesday when I go in to meet with the nutritionist. Oh well...not much I can do. dontknow This, by the way, also increases my already really high risk for preeclampsia two-fold. bandhead So keep us in your prayers.

I've also been worried about possibly not being able to have an epidural because of a spine curvature. I'm nervous about taking narcotics, since I usually react strongly to them. My doc told me not to worry yet, but I can't help it. He recommended Darvocet plus Phenergan if I end up unable to have the epi. Anyone had any experiences?

By the way, we settled on a name...he's going to be Jacob Austin. Jacob is DH's middle name, and Austin just sounded nice. Wink

What else...I still haven't done anything to prepare for his arrival, so that will be going on rapidly over the next month. We're remodeling a room to make it DD's room so that DS can have DD's current room. Busy busy!

I guess that's about it! Thanks for reading!

Anonymous said...

Just wanted to tell you im sorry about the Gestational Diabetes..been there done that and hoping not to do it again. Hated that diet!!!!!!!!

As far as the medications..im sensitive to narcotics as well....phenergen is great to stop nausea and calm you down however it does make you sleepy!!! Darvocet is a lower level narcotic that you probably wont have to much of a problem with although it can make you sleepy as well. I use to ahve to take phenergen daily due to Imflammatory bowel disease so Im real familiar with it. Hopefully you will be able to get the epidural but if not stadol is another great medication but it really through me for a loop. Natural childbirth is always another option..yes its scary..yes it hurts...but its always an option..i survived it twice..and no i personally dont plan on oding it again LOL..good luck!!!

Rose said...

Sorry it's been so long since I've updated. I don't even remember what I last updated with. Razz The diabetes is finally calming down. I'm on 3 shots of insulin per day, and that's been a pain, but not too bad. There was one point where they increased the insulin so high that I blacked out 2 days in a row last weekend. That was pretty scary, but they lowered it back down. My OB thinks that it's because my sleep schedule is so "off" - I'm up til 3 or 4 and eat breakfast at around 10. So for now he's happy letting the after breakfast sugar be a tad high as long as the others are okay, which they are.

I had an exam yesterday. I'm 35-1/2 weeks now, and I'm dilated to 2, which doesn't mean a lot. It's a start though! He wants me in for an ultrasound next week to see how big Jacob is, and then the week after, he will strip my membranes in the hopes that labor will start on its own. But if it doesn't, it sounded like I'd be induced at 38 weeks. Yahoo! Let's just hope that I can be patient. Wink There's still a lot to do, and I feel pretty well and have good energy, so usually a week flies by before I even know it.

Keep us in your prayers!

I had an OB appointment a couple of days ago along with an ultrasound to measure this little butterball I'm carrying around. Wink At 36 weeks, he was measuring 6 pounds 13 ounces. That's kinda big, but not huge thank goodness. My DD was just over that when she was delivered at 38 weeks, so I'm thinking he'll be about 8.5 pounds. We'll see though.

I'm scheduled to be induced on November 2nd (because of the gestational diabetes). My DD was induced because of preeclampsia, so I pretty much know what to expect. I'm really looking forward to being rid of this big belly, the finger pokes, the insulin shots, and the twice-weekly nonstress tests!

This Saturday I'll officially be full term at 37 weeks, and on Tuesday, my OB is going to strip the membranes to try to get things going on their own. That would be lovely if it worked, but I'm not holding my breath.

Here are 2 of the 3D pictures I got at the ultrasound. He's smiling in the 2nd one. He's excited about getting out too! LOL Hope you can make them out okay.

What an adorable little booger baby! I wish I could live nearby to see him! You will be in my prayers. How is the big sis liking the idea of competition?

Rose said...

My DD is very much the little mommy type, so she's looking forward to having a baby around, but I don't think she knows what that is going to mean. She handles things pretty well though, so I don't expect too much of a problem. She always asks if I'm ready to push him out yet...lol.

Anonymous said...

By the way my last child was born 2 days after my membranes were stripped and i was 2 cm dilated as well...good luck

Anonymous said...

That's just adorable! Far out i almost want to be pregnant again! Not long now at all! How exciting!

Rose said...

Next Thursday can't get here quick enough for me. I've had two more black-out episodes Sunday and Monday. I'm getting a little tired of that. Razz I seem to be doing better now though. Tomorrow is membrane day...woohoo!

I found out though that my hospital's policy if you need to be induced before 39 weeks is that you're required to have an amnio done to check for lung function. I think that's a load of crap. They want me to have an amnio on Halloween because he wants to induce me 2 days before I am 39 weeks. I don't really know what to do. I would like to have him ASAP since I'm tired of feeling miserable/passing out. But if I waited until the following Monday the 6th, I wouldn't need the amnio. I'll talk to him more about it tomorrow I suppose.

Anonymous said...

Oh that's a bit ricidulous! At 39 weeks his lungs will be working just marvellously! But i guess there's no way of getting around it! So soon!

Anonymous said...

I forget....was today the day for stripping the membranes? What's the latest?

Rose said...

He stripped my membranes yesterday. I was only dilated to 2-1/2. Confused But he did pull the "plug" out and I'm still having some spotting, which he said is a good sign. I'm not really having any contractions...just more uncomfortable, and the BH contx are more uncomfortable but not really more frequent. Bummer.

I don't mind waiting until next week, but I really wanted to avoid the amnio next Tuesday if I can. Otherwise, I'm scheduled for that + another stripping + a nonstress on Tuesday. I get to stop working on Monday. Then I'll be induced on Thursday at 8 am. Woohoo! I'm a little nervous about the amnio. I really feel it's unnecessary, and so does my doctor, but I need to get this sugar thing back to normal and get him out.

That's the update! Nothing more this week. DH is scrambling to get the other room done. It should be done in 1 or 2 days. So we'll be busy right up til Thursday!

Anonymous said...

Rose, can't you insist on NOT having the amnio? Like Sarah said, unless your due date is way off, his lungs should be just fine. I know the hospital has policies (mostly to protect themselves!) but I also know that if you push, they may back off and have you sign a waiver or something, so you don't have to have the amnio. It just seems like a pointless risk to me.

Anyway, I'm praying that you go into labor before that time, so you don't even have to worry about it! Very Happy

Rose said...

I can insist on not having the amnio if I want to wait 5 more days (til Monday) to be induced. I know 5 days isn't that huge of a deal, but my doctor is recommending that we do it now, but he said he'd leave it up to me. At this point, I think I want to have him on Thursday. Maybe I'll change my mind as Tuesday gets nearer though...I dunno. I would be 39 weeks next Saturday. Yes, it is pointless - not so much a risk. The only risk is that it would put me into labor...lol. Just a hassle and an unnecessary intervention really.

Anonymous said...

My guess was the 27th, so I'm praying hard that it's tomorrow!! lol You know I really only want what's best for you guys. Can't they just give you that stuff that helps mature his lungs if they're that concerned? I'm with you....that's stupid. Could you have him at a different hospital?

Anonymous said...

why in the world would they want you to have an amnio when 38 weeks is considered full term..that is nuts..never heard that before. hope it happens on its own soon!!!1

Rose said...

I wanted the 27th too Chris. Razz Of course I'd take today...lol. I don't think I could deliver at another hospital...that would mean switching doctors and all that, and by the time I got set up with someone else, I may as well have waited until that Monday. Razz

The kicker is that 37 weeks is full term at the hospital. So if I went in to labor any time after last Saturday, they'd let me deliver....but they won't induce without an amnio. Rolling Eyes

It's okay...I'll just do it. Everyone at the dr's thinks it's silly too, but no one is hinting that I should wait. Hopefully this litte booger will get moving over the weekend. Still spotting, but not much. Conx are just the BH ones. Nothing exciting to report. I guess that I'm dilating more if I'm still spotting though you'd think. Which I could check. Razz

Anonymous said...

I'm just so anxious for you! Update twice daily from now until he comes. Razz You can check yourself? You never cease to amaze me.

Rose said...

Still here btw. No updates really. My contractions are starting to get a bit stronger, but nothing worth doing anything about. It'd be lovely to go this weekend to avoid the amnio, but we'll see. I'll try to update daily. Smile

Rose said...

banghead Still here.

Anonymous said...

I'm so sorry Rose! I know how frustrating the last few weeks are - you are so tired of being big and tired and sore and all the other problems and you just can't wait to meet your new baby boy! Still praying for a swift and soon delivery Smile Hang in there, it may seem like forever, but it will happen soon Smile

Rose said...

Tomorrow is the day. Smile

I had the amnio done yesterday, and his lungs are perfectly ready to breathe air....yay! It wasn't so bad, except I almost passed out (yet again). They had to try 3 times, and it just freaked me out too much. Good thing my DH was there to fan me. Wink

I'm dilated to 3-4 now. He stripped my membranes again yesterday, and last night (just in time for Halloween for my DD), I started having contractions every 5, then 4, and then 3 minutes. So DH and I headed to the hospital, but after spending 3 hours there, they weren't dilating my cervix, so I got sent home even though they were 2 minutes apart. Sheesh. They did end up almost completely stopping at around midnight. DD got to go out with a friend for Halloween, so it worked out okay.

Tomorrow I have to call at 6 to see if I can go in (if they aren't too busy), and then I'll get there at 7 to be hooked up and all that mess. I'm getting nervous now! Say prayers both that I'll be able to go in the morning and that I won't panic. Razz And of course for health for me and Jacob. Thanks guys! I'll update as soon as I can.

By the way, we changed the middle name...it's going to be Jacob Dilin, which is the reverse of my DH - Dilin Jacob. Wink

You may have already read Sandi's post, but I talked to Rose today, and she said her internet is down, so she's been unable to post to let you know about Jacob. He was born around 1:45pm on Thursday, after just one push! He weighed 7 pounds, was 19" long and everything went well. They came home yesterday and Mommy and Baby are doing great. As soon as her internet is back up she'll be around to give us all the details.

Oh I am sooo excited for you Rose! Congrats on the bouncy baby boy! He will def keep you on your toes! I am scheduled for the ESSURE procedure Wed. morning! I am eagerly anticipating a life free of pregnancy scares! I have so much I want to do and am confident in my decision to put my breeder days behind me LMAO. J/k but I really am done making babies. Wish me luck and say a prayer for me.

Christine,

What is that exactly? How can I get it? You'll be in our thoughts and prayers. Hopefully the recovery's not bad.

Anonymous said...

just google Essure and it will show you the main web site that answers all your ?s and then some Wink It is not commonly offered as it is still relatively new (less than 10 yrs). The only reason the military hospital offerred it too me was due to my previous 3 abdominal surgeries. The laproscopic would have been invasive and required more cuts. This one involves coils being deployed into each tube and over the course of 3 mos. it inbeds into your tube, scars over and blocks it off completely. There is no reversal. My procedure is tomorrow. When the 3 mos is complete (Dh will have to "bag the groceries" until then) they do a special xray scan to confirm that the blockage is complete and voila! no more babies! I cannot wait.

Anonymous said...

Ooh. Sounds a little too surgical for me. My DH actually has already had his procedure, I'm just extremely paranoid about my luck that somehow it will "undo" itself. So I'll wait around for something less invasive. You will be in my prayers tomorrow. I hope all goes well.

Anonymous said...

Actually, this is the LEAST invasive procedure currently available. There is no surgery involved. They go in through your hoo-haw, guide the coils into place using a camera, then you are done. 45 mins average procedure time, back to normal within a day or two at the most. No cuts, no general anesthesia, just iv sedation/local. The Iv sedation is actually optional. You should check out the website. Wish me luck tomorrow.

Hi All,

Sorry it has taken me so long to post. My internet was down all last week, and it's taken me some time to get caught up on things online. Thanks ladies for posting for me. Smile

Jacob Dilin was born November 2 at 1:45. I was in labor for about 5 hours (I was induced), and I got him out in 1 push! The epidural went in with no trouble (with my DD it took a lot of tries). My Dh almost missed the birth it happened so fast. LOL. He weighed 7 pounds, 0 ounces and was 19 inches long. He has blue eyes and dark hair.

He's a very good eater, and I'm slowly adjusting to breastfeeding again. One side is still having some issues, but we're working through it. He sleeps good too (2 hours at a time with one 4-period at night). He had jaundice and had to be on the phototherapy lights for a couple of days, but he looks much better now.

My DD is doing very well with him. She'll be 4 next month. We've been trying to keep her busy to let her know we still love her just as much as before, and it seems to be working. She always says "He's so cute!" and "I love him momma." Very sweet.

I'm doing well too. For awhile there, I had this low-grade fever, which my doctor said could happen when your milk comes in. Anyway, it was just enough to make me feel like crap and make it hard to do anything. Thank goodness that is gone now. I'm getting good sleep...interrupted of course, but lots of it. My DH has been awesome letting me rest. I don't really know what I'm going to do when I need to start working again, which will probably be next week if possible. I can't imagine squeezing 4 hours out of the day/night sitting around typing. But we'll see...it'll work out I'm sure.

Anyway, that's the update! Thanks for keeping me in your thoughts and prayers. Here's a picture:
